A building with a rich history; it was used many years as court building, as prison during the Turkish occupation, and apparently also "Eleftherios Venizelos" (Greek Politician and Premier Minister) did work here.
The property for sale consists of four (4) rooms and hallway at the first floor, some offering sea view in the far, and one (1) large room, one (1) small room, and one (1) old kitchen at the ground floor.
An external staircase is leading up to the first floor onto a covered terrace with views of the Souda Bay, and entrance to the hall from which the rooms can be accessed.
As the property is within the village plan, additional building density is available. The services (water, electricity) are disconnected but are available in close distance.
A property with huge potential; preserving traditional features and convert it into a large family home, or even to a business property such as B&B or small village hotel when extending.
It is located close to an unspoilt Cretan village with view of the Lefka Ori (White Mountains), and has maintained its traditional architectural style. One will find some interesting churches, clearly showing the traditional architecture of the buildings in the area. The hospitality and the way of life the Cretan people used to lead before the burst of tourism is captured in these villages as a present way of life. In a quiet position and within easy walking distance of all the facilities including restaurant, taverns, bars, kafenia, shops, post office, bank, pharmacy and close to the Health Centre. The area is very scenic, having maintained its traditional character, mainly due to the attentive restoration of old buildings.

Chania - Apokoronas - VAMOS
Chania - Apokoronas - VAMOS
The municipality of Vamos, the capital town of which bears the same name (communities of Vamos and Douliana), consists of the former districts of Gavalohori (Gavalohori, Agios Pavlos, Koprana, Agios Vasilios), Plaka (Plaka, Almirida, Kabia), Kokino Horio, Kaina, Kefala (Kefalas, Paleloni, Drapanos), Xerosternio (Xerosterni, Litsarda), Selia (Selia, Souri, Likotinara), Kalamitsi Alexandrou. It is a semi-mountainous area with interesting natural surroundings, dominated by local woody (oak, holm-oak, cypress, wild almond, carob, laurel and pear trees) or bushy (hairy thorny brooms, cretan sage, herbs etc.) flora and architectural heritage. Small villages, most of which are old, are spread throughout the area, which is characterised by a lack of water and limited agricultural productivity. While this lack of resources resulted in a severe reduction of the population it did not have any effect on the architectural character or the natural surroundings of the region until recently. This is the main reason why a lot of foreigners buy old houses or land and settle here. The biggest part of the steep, rocky coastline has preserved its natural wild beauty and is proposed to become a protected area under the Natura 2000 Environmental Management Program.
